Bulls finish eighth

The USF men’s golf team shot a final round 295 to finish eighth, 34 shots off the lead, out of 18 teams at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Central Florida.

The University of South Alabama won a sudden-death playoff against UCF to take the team title. Coastal Carolina finished third, followed by Lamar University and the University of Texas-Arlington.

USF’s Ryan Shears shot a one-under-par 71 in the final round Tuesday, giving him a 54-hole total 218 and a tie for 12th place.

Dan Grassman tied for 25th with a 224; Brad Quiri finished in a tie for 28th, one shot back from Grassman, and Oscar Fraustro tied for 50th with a 230, rounding out the Bulls’ top four.

The Bulls return to action Friday when they host the Dick Wittcoff Invitational at The Claw, USF’s golf course.
