New York Times ranks USF No. 25 in nation

As the Bulls continue their difficult path toward earning a bowl bid as an Independent, the USF football team is getting some help along the way. The New York Times computer poll, which had the Bulls No. 30 after last year’s 8-3 season, ranked USF 25th in its Nov. 11 poll.

The Times poll is one of several computer polls used in the BCS ranking system, which determines the top two teams that will play for the national championship.

USF’s standing places the Bulls in lofty company. The 7-2 Bulls are ahead of Virginia Tech and North Carolina State, both of which were undefeated two weeks ago. Memphis, which USF beat 31-28 Saturday, is No. 115. Bowling Green, ranked 25th in the coaches poll, is No. 81.
