OPINION: Here’s what USF students have to say about spring break

All good things have to come to an end.
For USF students, our great spring break came to an end and classes resumed on Monday.
While it will take me a minute to get back into the swing of things after spring break, I know I am left with a lot of fun memories that will help me push through the final six weeks.
But with the fun memories comes a list of interesting opinions about my spring break.
My hot take is beaches are not the prime spring break destination, I believe the mountains are better.
Here’s what other USF students had to say about the break.
Chase Pate
Sophomore psychology major
“My hot take about spring break is that it’s not actually a break. I spent a lot of it doing school work and studying instead of relaxing. I would like professors to be more mindful of due dates immediately after break.”
Pate said professors should give exams before break so the time off could be used for relaxing rather than studying.
Aiden Poff
Junior mass communications major
“I don’t actually think Walt Disney World Resort is a good place to go during spring break. It’s way too expensive for what you get in my opinion. The food alone will break the bank.”
Poff said the beach is a better option rather than dealing with the stress of Walt Disney World Resort.
Brooklyn Wheat
Junior IPRA major
“Miami trips are outdated and overrated. People over-clutter it but there are better places and better beaches.”
Wheat said an underrated and less congested beach students should check out is Anna Maria Island.
Kevin Caraballo
Senior english literature major
“It’s no secret Florida traffic is a nightmare and last week was no different. But
between long drives to the beach and running errands, spontaneous singing sessions and car karaoke were the highlight.”
Carabollo said these car rides allowed him to feel like the “brightest star in the sunshine state” this spring break.
Jamal Saint-Louis
Junior mass communications major
“One week isn’t long enough to truly unwind while also having enough time to possibly get things done in life. As someone who had to work over the entire break, I did feel a bit down that I was not able to go enjoy myself.”
Saint-Louis said the summer will allow him more time to rejuvenate himself after dealing with the “harsh throes of student life.”
With how crazy this spring semester has been, other students and I agree spring break was dearly needed.
But between crowded areas, fun adventures and impending due dates, spring break brought time to rest for students in addition to a series of hot takes.
