Joiner, Grier earn weekly AAC honors; USF receiving votes
After a dominating USF performance on both sides of the ball in the 27-6 win over The Citadel on Saturday, sophomore running back Kelley Joiner and junior linebacker Antonio Grier both made the weekly AAC Honor Roll.
Joiner ran for 87 yards on eight carries and brought in his first USF career touchdown on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter. He led a rushing offense that ran for 302 yards.
Grier topped USF’s defense with 10 total tackles and one forced fumble on a sack in the second quarter. He led a defense that limited The Citadel to 200 rushing yards.
USF receiving votes in AP Top 25 Poll
The Bulls may have only played one game, but they’re already receiving votes in the AP Top 25 Poll. USF has received six votes in the poll.
Conference rivals Houston and SMU have also received one and 32 votes, respectively. Cincinnati is listed as No. 13, and UCF is ranked No. 14.
USF’s Week 2 opponent Notre Dame has moved up three spots to No. 7, following its 27-13 win over Duke on Saturday.
