An officer from University Police (UP) was placed on administrative leave after allegedly using racist and disturbing language on their Twitter account.

UP began a preliminary investigation and “are working to gather details.” The officer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is being conducted, according to UP spokesperson Audrey Clarke.

As of July 12, neither the name of the officer nor the account details had been released by UP.

“The University of South Florida rejects in the strongest possible terms all forms of racism and discrimination,” Clarke said. “They do not reflect our Principles of Community, which value diversity and inclusion.”
