Girl, 16, fatally shot in Tampa
TAMPA – Authorities say a 16-year-old girl has died and her 13-year-old brother is in critical condition after a shooting at their Tampa home.
Neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots around 5:55 a.m. Sunday. Officers found Kiara Birto dead at the scene. Jeremi Birto was transported to Tampa General Hospital.
Police say the teenagers were the only ones at home at the time. Detectives believe the home was targeted and that this was not a random act of violence.
It’s unclear whether police have any suspects.
