Love has ACL tear in right knee

Senior A.J. Love, USF’s second-leading receiver last season, tore the ACL in his right knee, the school confirmed late Monday evening after Love underwent an MRI.

The injury puts his chances of playing next season in doubt.

Love, second in catches and yards for USF last season, suffered the injury Saturday just minutes before the end of the spring game.

Love tore his left ACL in the 2008 St. Petersburg Bowl but played the entire 2009 season.

That leaves USF without its top two receivers from last season, as Carlton Mitchell entered the NFL draft this spring. Love started 19 games in his USF career, compiling 970 receiving yards.
