The story: USF face DePaul in another Big East Red Division game. The Bulls are coming off a 1-0 shutout of Villanova on the road and are looking to go 2-0 on the road trip.
The Blue Demons have the worst record in the Red Division, with only one win in conference play. USF has the second-best record in the Red Division behind St. John’s and is the only team in the Red Division to remain undefeated in Big East games.
USF has owned DePaul in previous meetings, with an 11-1 record since 1995. The Bulls have won the last three contests between the two schools and have outscored DePaul 24-6 all-time.
The Bulls, however, are aware DePaul will be prepared to reverse the trend.
“It’s going to be tough,” midfielder Sammy Castellanos said. “It’s pretty much on us on how focused we stay during the week in practice. Hopefully we can go over there and get the job done.”
Keep an eye on: goalkeeper Dane Brenner. This senior is coming off his fourth shutout of the year and is more than halfway to matching his own personal record of six shutouts in 2004. Brenner leads the Big East with a 0.74 goals against average and is ranked among the top 30 goalkeepers in the country according to ncaasports.org.
