Student Affairs begins to look into the fate of election results
No conclusion has been reached in the question of the validity of the results of the recent student body elections. The Student Government Supreme Court has deemed the results “null and void,” while the Election Rules Commission has certified the results naming Frank Harrison and Faran Abbasi as the student body president- and vice president-elect, respectively.
Student Affairs has taken notice of the confusing and unprecedented situation and will help determine which of the two differing views will stand.
According to Dean of Students Tom Miller, SA has started gathering facts and documents regarding the situation. He also said SA will not take any action until the Court’s official opinion document is released, which should explain the Court’s reasoning for nullifying the election results.
Miller added that he has already been contacted by students regarding the situation and is interested in hearing more student views on the situation by e-mail; he can be reached at tmiller@sa.usf.edu.
