Former student body vice president charged with fraud, grand theft

A former USF student body vice who was arrested Monday and is accused of embezzling $10,000 from his former employer, The Tampa Tribune, according to a St. Petersburg Times report.

Joenathan Jones faces charges of fraud and grand theft.

He was also charged as a fugitive after Tampa police found an outstanding grand-theft warrant from California.

Tampa police Detective Bill Todd told the Times that Jones, a promotions and special projects coordinator at the Tribune, allegedly kept money intended for other employees during an ad sales incentive program put on by the Tribune.

Jones, 25, was vice president under Jessica Pawelkop in 1998.

Jones was originally being held in a Hillsborough County Jail on $2,000 bond, but after the discovery of the warrant in California, he is being held without bail.
