SuperBull to reveal new mascot

Colors of green and gold, the traditional cake cutting, free food and entertainment will mark Homecoming 2001.

SuperBull V kick-off begins at noon today at the Martin Luther King Plaza, Julia Licorsih, chairwoman of the event, said.”It starts the excitement of the week,” Licorish said.

Planning for SuperBull V started immediately after last year’s Homecoming. And Licorish is excited about all the events planned.President Judy Genshaft, football coach Jim Leavitt, cheerleaders, the Sun Dolls, Rocky the Bull and a surprise new mascot will be on hand to help pump up the crowd.

Licorish also said that Smoothie King will be handing out free samples and there will be body artists there as well.

“There will also be cheerleader and football cutouts that students can take their picture with,” Licorish said. “Everything is free.”

Besides getting filled with food and music, students can expect a caricaturist and volleyball tournaments will be played by a variety of participants in Homecoming 2001. Promotional items from different participants will be given away as well during the course of the day.

“There may also be an ESPN obstacle course,” Licorish said. “But that is still up in the air.”

As the kick-off begins the week, Florida Blood Services will have a blood drive in the Special Events Center lobby. The drive will start Monday and end Thursday Nov. 1. Students who wish to donate blood can go between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Licorish said that kick-off is a way that students can be spirited with different organizations .
