Six students rescued
Six Castor Hall residents were trapped for 30 minutes inside the building?s elevator Tuesday due to a power outage caused by a thunderstorm, University Police Sgt. Meg Kelly said.
University Police responded at approximately 5:40 p.m., and within 5 minutes, Kelly and another officer rescued the passengers without any injuries.
When the elevator came to a halt, one passenger could be heard calling for help from inside.
?Basically, I?m stuck in the elevator. What do we do now?? freshman Linda Aquilina asked.
?How long are we going to be in here??
The elevator stopped about one foot from the first floor.
As students were rescued, they hopped from the elevator to the first floor.
