The Bulls have slept until noon, popped a couple Advils and eaten a greasy breakfast. Their hangover from beating Louisville is officially over.

After a sobering loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday, which followed a lopsided loss at Miami, USF (3-3) fell to .500 on the season and now must win at least three of their final five games to be bowl eligible.

That goateed man next to me on the page doesn’t think the Bulls can make it. This guy thinks they can. Here’s why and how:

The Bulls can beat No. 20 West Virginia on Saturday. In fact, they probably will.

If we know anything about USF this season it’s that the Bulls are a completely different team at home. Yes, two of their road losses came at Penn State and Miami, but the truth is USF is undefeated at Raymond James Stadium this season. Anybody who witnessed what happened last time USF played there – wait, I think Louisville just gave up another touchdown – cannot argue that USF isn’t a better team at home.

However, since only two of the five remaining games are at home, USF will have to win at least one on the road, which they haven’t done this season. The Bulls don’t deserve a bowl berth if they can’t win at least one on the road this season.

But they should. A win at Rutgers on Nov. 5 will be hard to come by, but the Bulls will have an extra week to prepare as they have a bye following Saturday’s game.

Syracuse, which the Bulls visit on Nov. 12, looks to be squeezed dry after its 31-9 loss to Rutgers on Saturday. Carrier Dome or not, the Orangemen shouldn’t pose much of a threat.

After Cincinnati at home on Nov. 19, USF travels to Connecticut, which, despite a 4-2 record, hasn’t faced a team currently in the Associated Press Top 25 (The Huskies’ first loss came to then-No.16 Georgia Tech, which has since fallen from the rankings).

USF will land in either a BCS Championship Bowl – still possible but not as likely as before – or either the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, N.C., the Insight Bowl in Phoenix or the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.

The Bulls will be there.

A good start would be to beat West Virginia, which would be as intoxicating as the win over Louisville.

To see a bowl game and to avoid another hangover, the Bulls just need to keep drinking.
