The search is over. USF will have a new face roaming the sidelines come this fall, thanks to the hiring of defensive coordinator Chris Cosh.
Cosh will make the move to Tampa after a three-year stay at Kansas State, where he served as both defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Wildcats. In his 28-season coaching career, Cosh has spent 15 seasons as defensive coordinator at Kansas State, Maryland, South Carolina, Michigan State and Illinois.
"I'm excited that Chris has agreed to be the defensive coordinator here," Holtz said. "We're very familiar with each other, having coached together for five years at South Carolina."
Cosh was brought in to replace Mark Snyder, who left the Bulls in the offseason to serve as a defensive coordinator in the vaunted Southeastern Conference with the Texas A&M Aggies.
"I've got great respect for him as a teacher and communicator," Holtz said. "He's had a lot of success building some of the top programs in the country and I'm looking forward to working with him again here at USF."
