“Marcus turned around as a football player, person and student,” Taggart said. “Marcus has changed his attitude, how he interacts with teammates and how he plays.”
Offensive coordinator Walt Wells said he sees the urgency in Shaw to produce.
“I think from the spring to now, I think he’s realized the opportunity and that this is his last chance to be honest,” Wells said. “Now he has a fresh start.”
That fresh start has proven big for Shaw, who now has time to rest during the bye week before playing No. 16 Miami on Sept. 28.
In spite of his 2013 success, Shaw still remains quiet about some things and hasn’t reached his goal, which will remain a secret until its achievement.
“If I tell it, I may not get it,” Shaw said. “I go day by day. You never know what can happen.”
