Jessica Velez joined The Oracle's news section in fall 2010 before becoming assistant news editor in spring 2012.

She's covered rowdy protests, both on and off campus, and reported from Tropicana Field to the Marshall Student Center. Whether the target has been Florida Governor Rick Scott, USF President Judy Genshaft and USF administration, Senator JD Alexander or the killing of Trayvon Martin, when the collective blood of the student body boils over Jessica's been there to cover it.
