Library hosts WOW event
As part of Week of Welcome celebrations, the Library is inviting students to take a tour of the recently renovated first floor from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
Students will learn about accessing Library resources such as tutors and iPads.
The tour will also acquaint returning students with the changes from the extensive summer renovations to the first floor.
The area of the first floor that previously housed the Writing Center has become the Digital Media Commons, equipped with interactive smart boards and tools for students to create multimedia projects. Students can also rent out camera and sound equipment.
The Learning Commons behind Starbucks was also remodeled and equipped with additional printers and 40 new computers. The study area also has new furniture, glass dividers and additional electrical outlets.
In all, the renovations to the first floor of the Library totaled approximately $2 million.
At the end of the tour, students are encouraged to make a 15-second Instagram video advertisement for their favorite thing in the Library. The two students whose videos receive the most Facebook likes will win a prize.
