Eriksen leads Team USA to World Cup of Softball Title

USF and U.S. national softball team coach Ken Eriksen returned to Oklahoma City a month after he guided the Bulls to the Womens College World Series. This time, he finished off the trip with a championship.

In the 2012 World Cup of Softball, Eriksen coached the U.S. team to a 5-0 start in group play, winning the five games by a combined score of 31-2. Their sweep through group play sealed a spot in the championship game against Australia on Monday night.

The U.S. team took Australia down for the second time in the tournament, following up their 3-1 win on June 29 with an 3-0 win in the championship match. The win marked their sixth consecutive World Cup of Softball championship, going back to a 3-1 loss to Japan in 2005, the first ever World Cup of Softball.
