The Hub expected to reopen today
Article updated Tuesday at 10 p.m.
The Hub, campus’ newest dining hall, is expected to become an option for students today once repairs are completed.
Just days after its grand opening on Thursday, The Hub experienced a fire at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday, according to university spokesman Adam Freeman. This incident caused the 24-hour eating option for students to close its doors.
Freeman said a “small electrical fire” caused the issue. The Tampa Fire Department responded to the scene and the building was evacuated.
According to Freeman, The Hub is expected to reopen today at 7 a.m. and resume the facility’s 24-hour service.
Freeman said the amount of damage caused by the fire is unknown along with the estimated cost of repairs and when repairs are expected to be completed.
