An arrest was made early Monday morning in connection to the shooting of a USF student at an off-campus apartment complex Saturday evening.
Jonathan Murphy, 22, of Punta Gorda, was booked by the Hillsborough County Sherriff's Office (HCSO) and charged with felony attempted murder and armed robbery in relation to an incident in which Devyn Hardy, a 19-year-old sophomore majoring in engineering, was shot once in the face, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Murphy was arrested on 20th Street, northwest of campus.
According to the Tribune, two men met Hardy at 40Fifty Lofts on 42nd Street Saturday and followed him into his apartment before shooting him with a handgun and fleeing on foot. It is believed that a bad drug deal led to the shooting, according to the Tribune.
Hardy was transported to Tampa General Hospital and is recovering in stable condition.
According to the Tribune, a second suspect is still on the loose.
