USF added another recruit to its 2013 class Wednesday, with the signing of Kennard Swanson.

With Swanson signing the National Letter of Intent to attend USF, he becomes the 24th addition to the class and adds versatility to Bulls, having played both sides of the football.

The 6 foot tall, 250-pounder, though recruited as a fullback, also has experience as the defensive tackle position where he helped Lake Gibson High School to a 10-1 record and obtain a berth in the regional quarterfinals during his senior year.

As a four-year letterman for Lake Gibson, Swanson was an all-state and two-time all-county selection. As fullback, he carried the ball 34 times, totaling 172 yards and eight touchdowns during his final two seasons.

Swanson also earned a 6A first-team all-state selection for defense in his senior year. As a defensive tackle, he recorded 197 tackles, 37 for a loss, with 31 sacks in his last two years.

The decorated two-way standout received offers from Florida, LSU, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and even coach Willie Taggart’s former school, Western Kentucky, before signing with the Bulls.
