A USF Burger King employee was arrested Wednesday night on charges of battery, burglary and possession of marijuana after allegedly striking a student multiple times in the head.

According to a media release from University Police (UP), Daniel Andre McKenzie, 22, was arrested by UP around 6:30 p.m. near the Fine Arts building after Omar Samaha, a USF student, reported the incident to UP.

Samaha said he was in his car in a parking lot on Apple Drive when he and McKenzie, standing outside Samaha’s vehicle, became involved in a “verbal exchange,” according to the release. McKenzie then allegedly opened the vehicle door and struck Samaha in the head multiple times before engaging in a “physical altercation” and then fleeing the scene.

McKenzie was released from the Hillsborough County Central Booking facility two days after his arrest on a bond of $3,000.
