Roberts enters transfer portal

Just days after he took off his pads and left the field against Tulsa on Friday, junior safety Nick Roberts has entered the transfer portal, per posts to his Instagram and Twitter.

In the third quarter of Friday’s 42-13 loss to Tulsa, Roberts took off his pads and walked to the locker room for the night after what looked like an argument on the sidelines. After the game, coach Jeff Scott said he had told Roberts that he wouldn’t play the rest of the game and that he would speak with Roberts this week.

Roberts was one of USF’s leading defensive players, ranking second on the team with 39 tackles.

After redshirting in 2017, Roberts posted a career-best 72 tackles and three interceptions in 13 games the following season. Across his USF career, he made 174 tackles, two sacks and five interceptions in 31 games.
