IN BRIEF

President Judy Genshaft was elected chairwoman of the American Council of Education (ACE) — an organization that attempts to bring together goals and future planning of universities around the country.

She assumed the role in Monday’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Genshaft served as ACE vice chairwoman during 2007-2008.  The previous chair was Pepperdine University president Andrew Benton.

ACE brings together presidents from almost 2,000 colleges and universities throughout the United States and includes schools such as the University of Florida, Purdue, and NYU.

As chairwoman, Genshaft said she hopes to help determine the future of higher education in the U.S.
