Campaigning on campus

A group of approximately 20 people came to the fourth floor of the Phyllis P. Marshall Center to listen to and question six local government candidates campaigning for the March 6 elections. Lynette Judge, Joseph Citro, Marion Lewis and Joe Redner (pictured left to right), and Mary Mulhern and Julie Jenkins spoke about the platforms they have chosen for their City Council campaigns. Lewis is running for mayor. Topics ranged from affordable housing and land options to urban transportation plans. All the candidates agreed that transportation is a major issue for Tampa?s citizens and options such as a Light Rail system and more ecologically friendly cars for city officials could aid in relieving roadway stress.
