Tennis names new assistant coach

The USF women’s tennis program named former USF player Ashlee Callahan assistant coach Tuesday. Callahan played for USF from 1999-2002, posting a 15-14 record her senior year. The Tampa resident recently got engaged to Tampa Bay Buccaneers place-kicker Martin Gramatica.

“Being a former Bull makes Ashlee a perfect candidate for the position,” said coach Gigi Fernandez in a press release. “She loves Bulls tennis and will be an integral part of turning the team into a top 20 contender.”

Callahan said she is excited to be back at USF and is anxious to begin the season.

“I learned so much as a player for USF,” Callahan said. “I hope to be able to use that knowledge to help this team be the best that they can be.”

Volunteer assistant Jonathan Collazo will join Callahan on staff.
